Before working inside your computer
- Save and close all open files and exit all open applications.
Shut down your computer. Click Start >
Power > Shut down.NOTE If you are using a different operating system, see the documentation of your operating system for shut-down instructions.- Disconnect your computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.
- Disconnect all attached network devices and peripherals, such as keyboard, mouse, and monitor from your computer.
- Remove any media card and optical disc from your computer, if applicable.
After the computer is unplugged, press and hold the power button for 5 seconds to ground the system board.
CAUTION Place the computer on a flat, soft, and clean surface to avoid scratches on the display.- Place the computer face down.
Removing side cover
- Loosen the captive screws that secure the cover to the computer [1].
Slide the cover towards the back of the system and lift it from the system [2].
Removing front bezel
- Pry the retention tabs to release the front bezel from the system [1].
Rotate the front bezel away from the computer [2] and pull to release the hooks on the front bezel from the front-panel slots [3].
Opening front panel door
Pull the front panel door to open it.
To remove the coin cell battery:
- Press the release latch until the coin cell battery pops out [1].
Remove the coin cell battery from the connector on the system board [2].
